The dark green leaves of pentas provide a backdrop for bright clusters of five-petaled flowers in shades of red, pink, lavender, and purple. Also called Egyptian Star Cluster, or Star Flower for the shape of their bloom, and Butterfly Flower because they are so attractive to butterflies. The pentas we grow are low and mounding, with numerous flower heads held in clusters above the foliage. Warm weather keeps the plant growing fast and blooming constantly with a flower season lasting until frost. Pentas are delightful annuals that are at home in any sunny spot in containers or planted directly in the ground.
