Every spring pansies and violas provide the first brilliant color in the greenhouse. Pansies, one of the most popular cool weather flowers, have heart-shaped, overlapping petals in bright colors with face-like center markings. Extensive breeding has produced blossoms in every color of the rainbow, including bicolors and ruffles and frills, like Fuzzy Fruit Salad Mix and Blueberry Thrill. While they look delicate, they are surprisingly hardy. An added bonus, like their cousins, the violas and violets, the pansy flowers are edible.
