The Fourth of July weekend was approaching, and Miss Pelham, the nursery school teacher, took the opportunity to tell her class about patriotism. ‘We live in a great country,’ she announced. ‘One of the things we should be happy is that, in this country, we are all free.’ Trevor, who was a little boy in her class, came walking up to her from the back of the room. He stood with his hands on his hips and said loudly, ‘I’m not free. I’m four.’
Perennial of the Week – Freelander Blue Prunella
![]() | |
The Prunella, also known as 'self heal', is a hardy dwarf perennial that is covered with masses of purple blue flowers. The term 'self heal' is often used for this plant as it was used as an herbal medicine in the Middle Ages. The prunella is only 7 inches tall and will make an attractive border or edge in any garden. Plant in full sun to partial shade. This flower will attract both bees and butterflies for fly-by beauty and for pollinating purposes!Need another reason to come out to America's Best Flowers? Our beautiful Prunellas are TWENTY PERCENT OFF THIS WEEK.

Our Kitchen – By Bev Wilson
We were having meatloaf for dinner last night. Jim and I both prefer barbeque sauce over ketchup, especially when the meatloaf is leftover, which it was. There were two almost empty bottles in the refrigerator, so I put them both on the table and decided to do a taste comparison. When I tasted the Sweet Baby Ray's, the flavors triggered memories of this super easy and delicious recipe. What a great summer meal! Serve with some deli potato salad and coleslaw.
