Lady’s Story – Chapter 21
Hey, remember what I said about how silly it was to have a tree inside the house and that all trees belong outside? Well, let it be known that I take it all back! I’m kinda digging having a sparkly tree with all those pretty things hanging on it inside the house.
The sparkly tree looks so nice my mom and dad want pictures of me in front of it. And, ya know what? I’m ready for it ‘cause I just came home from the spa and I’m looking pretty sassy, my friends!
My fellow dog buddies, Wesley and Riley, who, by the way, always look sharp, had told me all about their good friend Elicia and her dog grooming place which is real close to where we live. And since someone at my house decided that I needed a bath and such for the holidays I voted to visit Elicia. So, off we went. WOW! Elicia is so nice and I felt really safe with her. She talked to me the whole time I had my bath and while I was being brushed. Blow drying my fur was kinda noisy, but I wasn’t scared with Elicia there by my side, by my head and by my, ahem, backside.
Gosh, I feel good and my mom and dad love the way I look and smell!
I gotta go now! It’s time for me to pose!
Cheese…oh, duh, I mean TREAT!
P.S. It never seems to end…now I’m hearing talk about some jolly guy in a red suit that brings toys and treats and puts them under the sparkly tree. Where does this nonsense come from, I ask you?!
As you can see Lady and her family highly recommend this new local business. If you like a clean dog, please contact Elicia at 4 Mutts LLC at 608-839-6161 or go to their website.

Holiday Centerpieces Make and Take
It appears that our Wisconsin winter has arrived! Snow and freezing weather kept many of you from joining us this past Sunday for our Holiday Centerpiece workshop, so we would like to invite you out to our greenhouse anytime Sunday – Saturday, from 9-4, to create that centerpiece that you had planned on making last weekend.
Design your very own centerpiece for your holiday table by adding fresh greens to florist’s foam to create your base. Choose from our assortment of picks for a seasonal accent. For that classic look simply add a candle.
Trey: What do you get when you cross a snowman and a dog?
Brandon: I give up.
Succulent Creation Planters – Holiday-ized
Look how easy it is to Holiday-ize a succulent! A few berries, an artificial star, ribbons and some ting and there you have it! After the holidays just remove the props and you’re good to go until the next holiday. Do you have holiday parties in your future? Why not give a lovely holiday succulent planter to your host!
Our collection of Succulent Creation Planters are now priced between $17.49-$19.99. Choose from many lovely combinations of succulents in a variety of container styles.
Succulents are very low maintenance plants. They make great gifts for people who forget to water their plants on a regular basis. Succulents need about six hours of light a day, so placing them by a window with a southern exposure during the winter months is important.
Holiday Porch Pots!
If you were unable to attend one of our Holiday Porch Pot Workshops and would still like to make one you still can! Stop out at our Cottage Grove location anytime between 10 and 3, Sunday through Saturday and create a festive Holiday Porch Pot for yourself or for someone special on your gift list!
Choose from branches of birch and curly willow, fresh, fragrant evergreens, simple or glittery lotus pods, berries, pine cones, ornaments, ribbons, and bows!! With so many colors, shapes, and textures, there are endless combinations to be made.
Bring empty container(s) from home or purchase your favorite from us. All accessories must be purchased at America’s Best. With a minimum $10 purchase per container, you get free sand for your porch pot.
Bringing gloves and pruning shears is encouraged.
Assistance will be limited, but you’re welcome to assemble and arrange in our workspace.
Have a group of girlfriends with a free afternoon? Book a private group session to create holiday porch pots with one of our design professionals! It’s a great way to spend time with friends, get crafty, and share the fun. Call us at 608-222-2269 to book a time!

There are some fabulous prizes to be won!
By now you must know that I enjoy recipes the most when they’re simple and easy. Here’s another easy classic holiday treat you can make in no time. Simple and delish. Enjoy!
- 24 pecan halves
- 24 mini pretzel twists
- 24 individually wrapped soft caramel squares, unwrapped
- 8 ounces good-quality milk chocolate, melted
1.Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
2.Put the pecan halves on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake, shaking the sheet once halfway through, until lightly toasted, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer the nuts to a plate to cool.
3. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Arrange the pretzels neatly on the baking sheet, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped caramel. Bake until the caramels soften (but are definitely not melting), 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and gently press a pecan half onto each caramel, just enough for the caramel to fill the pretzel. Set aside to cool completely.
4. Remove the cooled pretzel/caramels from the baking sheet. Spoon 24 small dollops (1 1/2-teaspoon helpings) of the melted chocolate all over the baking sheet, then lightly drop a pretzel onto the middle of each dollop, making sure the pretzel is centered. Allow them to cool completely before serving (you can hasten this along in the fridge).
