Lady’s Story – Chapter 19
All I can say is, ‘My mom and dad are being silly!’ They’ve been talking some nonsense about putting a tree INSIDE the house and how much fun it’s going to be. Duh! What the heck?!
‘Why bring a tree inside the house when they look just fine and dandy outside?’ I asked.
They suddenly stopped and I mean they stopped talking, moving, maybe even breathing. I was getting kinda worried! My dad awoke from his coma first and said, ‘What, Lady? It’s almost Christmas.’ (And this is when it really got weird. My dad started talking real, real slow and stretched out each and every word.) ‘Thiiis iiis whenn weee deecooratte thee treee!’
Ahh, what? I was speechlesssss! It took me a while to figure out what my dad said, so let me interpret this for all of you. ‘This is when we decorate the tree.’
They want to bring a tree inside and then decorate it?! Wow! I tell ya, folks, sometimes I feel like I live in a looooony binnn!
Hey, I gotta take a break. I need to go outside…get some fresh air, maybe play some football.
You know, OUTSIDE, where trees belong!

The holiday season is in full swing, and with it, we kick off the cold and flu season. This is a great tea for a sore throat, to detox, or just slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. It’s light, refreshing, and about as simple as it gets. You can omit the ginger if you want, and adjust ingredients to taste.
Honey Lemon Tea
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 thin slices of fresh ginger
- ½ lemon (about 1 Tbsp of juice)
- 1 Tbsp raw honey
- In a mug, add the hot water, lemon (squeeze the juice into the water first, then add the lemon), ginger slices, and honey. Stir the ingredients to dissolve the honey. Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes to infuse the ginger. After five minutes, press the ginger down to the bottom of the mug to help bring out the "juice." There’s no need to strain the tea after it’s done steeping.
- Alternatively, you can make a stronger tea by boiling the water and ginger slices on the stove-top for 10 minutes. Then, add the remaining ingredients and steep.
